Moth
Mothmothmoth. Moths are great.
Moth.

Spotted
Hot on Cysiam's trail with Chief, his 'trusty' Wobbuffet, by his
side; Wilberforce H Yates scales the cliff and reaches out to
steal Cysiam's beacon.
Why he didn't just fly up there with his dragonite is a mystery.
|
 |
Edgeworth
Vector
Miles Edgeworth, from the Ace Attorney games, is the greatest
thing that has ever happened to the world and as such I have created
a vector to immortalise him even more than he is already immortalised
in the hearts and souls of Capcom fans everywhere. |
 |
Found a Beacon
Having ridden Zuregoose high in the clifftops, Cysiam notices
a glowing red LED in a particularly dense patch of blizzard. On
closer inspection, it is revealed that the good-humoured hosts
of the Battle Frontier have placed a beacon directly in front
of a blizzard machine. Cysiam is not amused, however, and Dark
has lost a little more faith in the human race. Why place a blizzard
machine in a mountain already racked with harsh weather? Perhaps
we'll never know. |
 |
Challenging
the Blizzard
Cysiam and Zuregoose wading through the blizzard.
Despite being REALLY REALLY HIGH UP he still can't see a thing.
Zuregoose exchanges a half-symapthetic (toward Cysiam being so
cold) and half-disappointed (because he can't see anything) look
with Cysiam. |

#008 Wartortle
"It is recognized as a symbol of longevity. If its shell
has algae on it, that Wartortle is very old. "
This is a very peaceful Wartortle. "Tolstortle".
War and Peace lols. |
 |
#007 Squirtle
Shquirtle ish number 007 in the Pokédexh, sho naturally I gave
him a shuit and a gun.
"Squirtle's shell is not merely used for protection. The
shell's rounded shape and the grooves on its surface help minimize
resistance in water, enabling this Pokémon to swim at high speeds." |
 |
Flaaffy
Flaarghffy dislikes Cleffa. |
 |
Rifle
Zangeus
What constitutes as 'Sport' for Zangeus:
He climbs to the top of Mt Pyre and shoots what he sees.
And looks darn good while he does it ;D |
 |
Charizard
YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH BADGES TO CONTROL ME.
#006 in the Pokédex, Charizard.
*hides*
"Charizard flies around the sky in search of powerful opponents.
It breathes fire of such great heat that it melts anything. However,
it never turns its fiery breath on any opponent weaker than itself." |
 |
Glove Guy
Ben's from college. He plays piano. He also does graphics, which
is cool. He really really really wanted me to do a vector drawing
of him, but I kept putting it off because it's funny to see him
go on about it. Today, I decided to make one; so I took a photo
and this is what happened.
My second Illustrator vector. I've decided to adopt a different
style. |
 |
Jonson Ankles
Jensen Ackles, who is well known for playing Dean Winchester in
Supernatural.
He is my favourite character, and also Hokerou's, so I made a
vector of him. This is the first vector I've actually done wholly
in Adobe Illustrator. |
 |
Edarem
The internet-famous Edward Muscare, a terrifying but strangely
lovable old man whose past keeps coming back to haunt him.
See his youtube
videos and read
his biography. |
 |
|
 |
Sydney Photogram
I made a comic strip out of photograms in
college.
The photograms were made by exposing photosensitive paper to light
while objects (including my snake skin and a lightbulb) were placed
on top of the paper, then developing the paper the way film is
developed - placing the paper in a series of chemicals before
washing andl eaving to dry.
This is done under a red light, because the paper isn't sensitive
to red light. |
 |
Sydney
This is a photograph I took this evening.
I cleaned out, bathed and fed my snake, Sydney, and took photos
of her as she ate.
I believe her response to this was
"What are you doing, get out."
She is a big baby and doesn't like baths. She urinated in the
bath. I had to take her out and clean the bath.
I made sure her mouse took a long time to defrost. >:[ |
 |
Visual Studies
Today was my second Visual Studies session
in college, and I drew this in charcoal and marker pen.
I then stuck it in Potatoshop and vectored it. Woop. |
 |
Charmeleon
I set myself the project of drawing all
the Pokémon. All of them. I started in January and finished Charmeleon
today. I'm totally on the ball.
Progress link:
http://clansoul.deviantart.com/journal/22416985/
HAHAHAHAHA. Look how rubbish the
first ones are.
Look.
|
 |
Demon
I was bored, so I started sketching something
and it turned into this.
Yay? |
 |
Hayley Paramore
A vector of a good friend of mine from college.
Her timetable is so brightly colour coded it's hard to look at
it without getting retinal burning ;D |
 |
Genie
I've been re-reading The Edge Chronicles recently, so this drawing
of a Genie is inspired by the artist, Chris Riddell.
This particular Genie would probably give you those 'extra three
wishes' you wanted. |
 |
Phoenix the
Tyranitar
If Phoenix Wright were a Pokémon, he would definately not be a
Tyranitar.
However, due to the spikes at the back of its head and it's kind
of "Suit-like" armoured shell, I decided to draw my
shiny Tyranitar as Phoenix Wright.
I use him alongside Quint in my Platinum team. |
 |
Quint
Quint is a Togekiss
that has a hat on.
The hat has a Togepi print on it, so it suits him.
I drew this because I need a hat.
Not that drawing a hat in any way benefits me, but I still enjoyed
drawing my lovely Togekiss, Quint.
I use him in my Pokémon team in Pokémon Platinum. |
 |
Chapter Three
The third, final and most awesome piece of my tryptich.
This is all done in photoshop based on a tiny thumbnail sketch
I drew in my sketchbook.
I scribbled on a layer over the top of it and ended up with this.
Story here:
http://www.clansoul.com/I/ |
 |
Chapter Two
The second piece of my college work, the story it goes with is
here:
http://www.clansoul.com/I/
The smoke is making this face:
ಠ_ಠ |
 |
Flo, Evil
Another one of Flo.
She didn't consent to this, so it was a lovely surprise when I
showed it to her (she actually did love it though). |
 |
Cleo Print
A collagraph print of the lovely Cleo.
Another popular one I'm not altogether keen on :] |
 |
Chapter
One
This is the first finished piece for my story, which you can read
here:
http://www.clansoul.com/I/
One down, two to go. |
 |
Ashfingers
Also part of my college work - going toward my first final piece.
It's the mother's arm from the story.
The ashes are a metaphor for her life burning away into cinders.
Read the story, so far, here:
http://www.clansoul.com/I/ |
 |
Patchwork
Hand
I made this as part of the very first of my three final pieces
for my current college project.
The theme is "Home", and I'm writing a story with three
chapters, and one digital painting for each chapter.
It's more of a mixed media thing, though, and I'm making and scanning
in actual pieces of artwork I'm creating to put in each painting. |
 |
Red Balloon
I'd not tried clouds before, so I painted this thing in photoshop.
It was really good fun! Not incredibly accurate, but good fun
nontheless.
The smudge tool is fantastic.
The little person in the balloon is probably scared to death or
something I dunno, I'm a cat. |
 |
Derelict
Another Extrude-y planet (I rather enjoy
these!).
This time, the planet isn't very sanitary. It seems to have been
abandoned by some ancient race that destroyed their world through
pollution and overcrowding.
TURNS OUT IT'S EARTH or some crap movie twist.
"Take yer stinkin' claws off me you damn dirty robot!"
</planet of the wall-e> |
 |
Electricity
So I discovered the Extrude filter thanks
to a guy I know in college.
Utilising the accented edges filter in conjunction with Extrude,
I made a nice electrically charged planet floating over a body
of water which is probably inhabited by electric eels and the
like, or some creatures that hopefully evolved to be bloody well
insulated. |
 |
Edgey Plate
This is the actual collagraph plate I made for printing Edgeworth.
The golden colour is from the shellac varnish I used to preserve
the lumps and bumps of the textured plate.
There is indeed a larger version of the image (by that I mean
larger than the 1000px width image you can find by clicking the
thumbnail).
http://www.clansoul.com/traditional/edgeyplate.jpg
|
 |
Cleo and
Seviper
Cleo faces a Seviper
in this all-too predictable showdown.
|
 |
Cleo
Cleo is a Gardevoir,
but in the style of Cleopatra (it's the hair).
I was considering making a webcomic based on the story of Antony
and Cleopatra, but I couldn't think of anything witty to put in
it. |
 |
Edgey Print
II
I took another print from the same plate.
I much prefer the first one but here's the second one anyway.
No extra large version for this one, sorry. |
 |
Gardevoir
One of my favourite Pokémon.
I digital painted this with my Intuos3 tablet.
It shows Gardevoir in mid-teleportation, pushing out of the 'psychic
world' through a dimension-window. |
 |
Edgey Print
Here's a collgraph
print of Miles
Edgeworth.
I made a printing plate and prepared it, before drowning it in
ink and printing with it.
The hard copy is a lot more vivid, especially in the green, so
I had to tone it down digitally.
The version to the left here is 1000px wide, but if you want to
see the absolutely massive full sized version, you can find that
by changing the link from edgeyprint1000.jpg to edgeyprintlarge.jpg. |
 |
Godotina
Godot
is a character from the Ace Attorney games, who has a mask because
<spoiler>*psst* *psst* *psst*</spoiler>.
Giratina,
the Pokémon, has a head that's remarkably similar. Hence the amalgamation.
Apparently Godotina doesn't like coffee, but drinks it anyway. |
 |
Edgeworth
Miles Edgeworth from the Phoenix
Wright games.
I drew him in my sketchbook and uploaded it here.
Sketched with pencil, inked with some thin pens etc. I'm sure
you know the drill.
He's my favourite character from the games, so expect plenty of
him :D |
 |
Facade
Now I wanted to call this one "Space Pope" but I thought
"Facade" sounded more professional.
Prompted to do this by reading through Gary Tonge's Digital Painting
Bible, ' Bold
Visions', I painted this with my usual kit and I'm...I dunno.
It's ok. Better than I thought it would be, anyway. |
 |
Whale
I was bored in college, so I did this.
I like it when people are really interested in what I'm doing
in the computer room :D |
 |
Rolls Royce
Phantom
My favourite car.
This was done as part of a project for college.
1280x1024 |
 |
Dark Side
of the Moon
I have two monitors, both 1280x1024, and I decided to make myself
a desktop background for them.
I have several sizes for this one:
1280x1024:
Left
Right

1280x800:

|
 |
Athena
The digital painting made from the sketch below.
It didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped it would, but it still
made her a nice birthday present. |
 |
Athena
A sketch for a digital painting.
The model is a good friend of mine, Killerkitti.
I hope the digital painting comes out as good as this sketch did.
I used a variety of soft to hard pencils for this. |
 |
Beggarstaff
As part of my college project. This is a vector in the style of
a Beggarstaff poster, using Angeline Jolie (I found it in a magazine)
as the subject. |
 |
Chipmunk
Fairy
A request from a friend of mine.
I'd never really tried drawing fur before, and don't think I did
it particularly well, but Bethhy-May the Chipmunk Fairy (based
on said friend's instant messenger screenname) looks remarkably
like the model ;] |
 |
Shotgun Wound
to the Head
A girl at college let me do this to her, and take a photo of it.
She was fine, though.
Haha actually I did this in college, in one of the most public
computer rooms on the grounds.
You can't even comprehend the amount of weird looks I got while
making this.
Then I showed it as a 'bonus image' during a presentation for
one of my lectures, much to everybody's dismay. |
 |
Dwimmerlaik
This is a vector-digital painting of The
Witch-king from Lord of the Rings.
In contrast with his appearance in the movies, I've decided to
station him in a forest and have given him a coating of moss and
rust.
Just something a little different, I think. |
 |
He Who Must
Not Be Named
Since appearing in 'Freakazoid' many years ago, this boogeyman
figure has been well-known via the internets due to the idea that
if you say his name, he'll appear and take you away, never to
be seen again.
When you type his name (It's Candlejack, by the way) he'll take
you away before you can finish typ |
 |
Wolf
I scribbled this in my Contextual Studies sketchbook when I was
bored. I didn't have any watercolours, so I coloured it digitally.
Shush though, that's a secret.
As far as anyone else knows, it's all done off the pc. |
 |
Bethhy-May
A vector for my green-eyed friend, Beth. |
 |
Train Wreck
No, this isn't based on Heroes (I've never seen it, somebody mentioned
that it's like one of the powers Peter Parker Pettigrew or some
shit has).
I think the tutorial I followed was based on it, though.
Doesn't really matter, anyway. |
 |
Space City
I worked from a tutorial for this one.
To the left is 1280x1024.
1280x800
1024x768

 |
Floating
Rock
Inspired by one made by Rev.
Jesse - I did, in fact, use the same rock as he did. |
 |
Flo
After seeing my nasty Photomanipulations, my friend Flo asked
me to do something nice.
This is all I could manage.
Original.
|
 |
Charlotte
A vector of my friend's girlfriend, Charlotte.
Awesome sunglasses :D |
 |
Beat
I call this a Beat because it's a BEar crossed with a bAT.
I could have called it a Baear but I don't know how to say Baear. |
 |
Cross My Heart
Another vector of my friend Athena.
This one took me fourteen and a half hours. D: |
 |
Furball
This creature's mother left it out in the park and went off to
have a few ciggies. When it started to rain, mummy went home and
left her beautiful child there to get pneumonia.
Legend has it that the ghost of the baby furball still haunts
the park waiting for its mother to return. She won't, though,
because her fur caught fire and now she is dead.
Look at its beautiful face. Look.
(Give it a few seconds to fully load, too) |
 |
Owl
My first animal digital painting.
I used my Wacom Intuos3 graphics tablet for this one, and with
the exception of the underside of its left wing, I am incredibly
pleased with the final image. |
 |
Nigel Cassidy
This was a commission, made for an auction centered around the
football career of the subject, Nigel Cassidy, who died recently.
The original picture was very old, black and white and pretty
tattered. Apparently I got the colours spot on. |
 |
Glass Snake
A snake. BUT IT'S MADE OF GLASS. |
 |
Rappola
Made this of a guy on another forum. |
 |
Zebra Squared
Here's a 1280x1024 sized desktop of Zebras, which are some of
my favourite animals (GIraffes are so much better), in the same
style I used with that spider.
I used tiny little triangles to shade the middle-toned areas,
such as around the ears and tail. |
 |
Stormy Planet
I was commissioned by a substitute
teacher in school to create this piece, for his wife.
I used a Wacom Intuos3 tablet to draw the planet itself, while
I used a displacement map and a combination of other filters to
produce the background and various effects on the planet itself.
I spent a couple lunchtimes in the art department making this
one. |
 |
Pete at his
Prom
My friend Pete made the mistake of sending me his prom photos.
I wasn't all nasty, though. I removed a spot from his girlfriend's
boob! |
 |
Laurence
THIS. This was tedious as hell.
Goddamnit Laurence, next time DO NOT WEAR A CHECKERED SHIRT.
Argh! |
 |
Couple Kissing
Another shock one, people find this one pretty disturbing. |
 |
Face Stretch
I love to shock. It's a really great thing, in my opinion, to
make people go "Eww!!" or "Oh my God!" at
something I've made - it makes me feel like I've made at least
a teeny little impact and it's something people tend to remember
more than things like the planets I create. |
 |
Jess
For my gorgeous friend Jess :]
Practicing the style I used below, but I kinda ruined the shading
on this one.
I still love it, though. |
 |
CherryLisa
After the simpler style I used on Kate's vector, I went into more
detail with the black layer on this vector of Cherry. I also tried
out shading techniques and I'm very, very happy with this. |
 |
Spider
I hate spiders.
Well, I love them, they're very interesting, but they terrify
me.
This vector was pretty fun to do, really.
I needed a practice with the intricate details of something, so
what better subject than a tiny little critter? |
 |
Unzipped
Kitten
This is a pretty popular one, for obvious reasons.
I used a tutorial
for this, so I can't claim all the credit.
People seem to really like this one, but I don't think it's very
good! The Zip's too rough and the eye holes aren't very well cut
out.
I may redo this one sometime. |
 |
Kate
Kate is a girl I know from school.
She has fantastic hair. Look.
Look at her hair. |
 |
Bird by Pond
Inspired by how I did the stripes on the tiger, I did the darker
areas in a layer on top and coloured beneath them with simpler,
block colours.
This is one of my favourite vectors so far. |
 |
Tiger
Roar.
These are good fun. |
 |
Crow II
I love crows. |
 |
Northern
Crow
It's probably crow time. |
 |
|
 |
Mantis
I made this while listening to Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds.
Scary stuff ;] |
 |
Kissing
A vector influenced by mofaha,
an artist I know from a messageboard.
This is one of my favourite vectors.
|
 |
|
 |
Athena in
a Tree
The trousers were an absolutely nightmare.
They're awesome though. |
 |
Bird
A bird, by the sea, in the rain.
I really love birds, and their feathers are fun to vector.
I've decided to do a series of birds using only straight lines,
to contrast the smooth feathers. |
 |
Frank Zappa
A photo of Frank Zappa, taken for my favourite of his albums 'Sheik
Yerbouti', made into a vector using a similar style to Logovend. |
